There will be occasions when a full survey report isn’t required and only part of the boat needs to be inspected. This is called a limited scope survey or walk through survey, and whilst less expensive than a full survey the client must understand its limitations.
Contact VDL MarineA Limited Scope Survey is often considered when a full Pre Purchase survey is not required. This may be because only part of the boat needs to be inspected, for example the Hull, Keel, Rig & Rigging or Stern Gear.
Our clients often engage us to conduct a Limited Scope Survey as a means of evaluating whether it is worth going ahead with a more expensive Pre Purchase survey. Whilst this type of survey is less expensive than a full Pre Purchase Survey, it is significantly less detailed and not suitable for applying for insurance or making an important purchasing decisions
It may well be that the extent of the survey is not enough to support an insurance application and further work will have to be done at a later date and at further expense should this be required.
